The Director of Development is responsible for overseeing individual fund raising in the School of Hotel Administration. They are responsible for the strategic management in order to maintain and promote the mission of the school. The director acts as the liaison between the school and development in addition to working collaboratively with the associate dean, dean, and faculty. The director is responsible for managing relationships with individual giving officers to provide strategic plans that will further develop each prospect's awareness, understanding, involvement and commitment to Cornell. In addition, the director is responsible for managing a prospect pool.
Bachelor's Degree with 5 or more year’s progressively responsible fundraising and leadership experience. The director must maintain an in-depth knowledge of the School's priorities and inspire the respect and confidence of the executive, academic, administrative leadership of the School. He/she must have sound fundraising judgment and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven skills in narrative and persuasive writing, editing copy and documents, and proofreading. Ability to represent the University or School of Hotel Administration to external audiences and to communicate timely, responsively and tactfully.
Requires a strong understanding of the school and the worldwide hospitality industry.
Must be a strong collaborator to work effectively between faculty, senior-level industry executives, senior school administration and other external parties.
