The Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce seeks a Vice President of Tourism & Community Relations to lead the Ithaca/Tompkins County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) Division of the Chamber of Commerce.
Primary responsibilities include advancing the annual work plan of the CVB, developing and monitoring division operating budget, supervising staff of 6 full-time and 5 part-time people, and attracting new and repeat visitors to Tompkins County through three CVB departments: Marketing, Visitor Services, and Group Sales. The Vice President will engage in strategic planning, project management, grant writing and administration, and local, regional and statewide liaison work. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and maintain cooperative and productive relationships with external stakeholders, team members and several boards.
Qualifications include a 4-year college degree in business management, tourism/travel, sales/marketing, economic/community development, or related field and minimum five years related work experience with at least three years of supervisory experience. Strong marketing, public speaking, community relations, and excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Demonstrated organizational management experience, knowledge of non-profit management and work with a destination marketing organization or chamber of commerce preferred. Vision, passion and enthusiasm are necessary.
